Despite it being a close meet, the Trailblazers were not quite able to defeat Muncie-Burris at their PAAC Meet on January 11th. Nevertheless, the Trailblazers had some excellent swims.
The Trailblazers were meet champions in five events: the 200 Medley Relay (Keegan Priest, Austin Clark, Hayden Suarez-Davis, and Gordon Bradley), the 100 fly (Keegan Priest), the 100 back (Keegan Priest), the 100 free (Hayden Suarez-Davis), and the 400 Free relay (Andrew Laramore, Keegan Priest, Hayden Suarez-Davis, and Austin Clark).
Keegan Priest broke both of his own conference records in his individual events!
We also had second-place finishes from Hayden Suarez-Davis (200 free) and the 200 Free Relay team of Charlie Dahle, Gordon Bradley, Foster Wilson, and Andrew Laramore.
Third place finishes were earned by Andrew Laramore in the 200 IM and Gordon Bradley in the 100 back.
Gordon Bradley also finished fourth place in the 200 free, as did Andrew Laramore in the 100 fly and Foster Wilson in the 500 free.
A fifth place finish came from Austin Clark in the 50 free.
Earning the final points for the Trailblazers with 6th place finishes were Foster Wilson in the 200 IM and Mitchell Wray in the 500 free.
Somehow, we pulled some best times in there yesterday! They are also written in blue on the result sheet:
200 medley relays saw best splits from Austin Clark (breast- 32.85) and Gordon Bradley (free- 29.40).
Gordon Bradley also shaved off a little time in the 200 free (2:28.94), while Foster Wilson dropped a whopping 26 seconds in the 200 IM (2:57.21).
Mitchell Wray swam the 500 for the first time (8:30.11).
Foster Wilson also swam the 500 and brushed his best 100 time for the first split (1:09.76) going two seconds faster than his best 200 split (2:32.67). His final time of 6:44.63 was 39 seconds faster than the first time he swam it.
In the 200 free relay, Gordon Bradley (29.31) and Foster Wilson (29.11) went best 50 free relay splits.
Gordon Bradley also took a bit of time off of his best 100 back when he tried moving his arms faster! He went a 1:12.35 and said that moving your arms more is harder (yes. yes it is).
Our 400 free relays at the end of the meet had best splits from Andrew Laramore (59.68– first time under 1:00 from a flat start!), Foster Wilson (1:08.74), and Mitchell Wray (1:21.64).
This was also Peter Wu’s first meet!
The Trailblazers will compete again on Tuesday, January 14th against North Central High School and Noblesville High School at Noblesville.
