Even with some swimmers feeling under the weather and exams looming, the Trailblazers performed exceedingly well at the Eagle Invitational at Zionsville High School.
During the meet, Charlotte Kumler broke her own 500 free record (5:56.57).
At this meet, top 16 individuals scored and top 14 relays scored. The Trailblazers had two top 8 finishes. They were accomplished by Regan Hooker in the 200 IM (8th) and Charlotte Kumler in the 500 free (7th).
Other point-scoring swims were: the 200 medley relay team of Charlotte Kumler, Caitlin Clark, Regan Hooker, and Ella Eskenazi(9th), Charlotte Kumler’s 100 back (9th), Zoe Napier’s 100 back (14th), Regan Hooker’s 100 breast (10th), Caitlin Clark’s 100 breast (15th), and the 400 free relay team of Ella Eskenazi, Kylar Kavanaugh, Regan Hooker, and Charlotte Kumler (9th).
Over the course of the meet, the Trailblazers also set an abundance of personal records.
Annie Klemsz shaved a couple of tenths off of her 50 free (39.09). She also dominated her 100 free, dropping 9 seconds down to 1:29.70– under the 1:30 mark!
Kylar Kavanaugh dropped 3 seconds in her 100 free flat start (1:11.81).
Charlotte Kumler dropped 2 seconds in the 500 (5:56.57). This was a very well-paced and strategic race.
Ella Eskenazi also dropped 3 seconds in the 500 free, using a solid strategy throughout (7:01.39).
Zoe Napier swam the 200 free for the first time! Her time of 2:48.26 put her as 7th in UHS history in the event.
After three years, Caitlin Clark had her first 50 free flat start. She led off the 200 free relay with a split of 34.23.

The 400 free relay team of Charlotte Kumler, Kylar Kavanaugh, Regan Hooker, and Ella Eskenazi went a season-best time of 4:38.52.
Regan Hooker had not yet swum the 200 IM this year, and her time of 2:38.50 was an unshaved best. Her 50 fly relay split was also a season-best (32.07). Her 100 free relay split of 1:08.76 was also a season best.
Charlotte Kumler’s 100 free relay split of 1:03.77 was a season-best.
The Trailblazers will compete next at the PAAC meet at Ball State University on Saturday, January 5th.
