The Trailblazers were defeated by both North Central High School and Noblesville High School in a double dual meet at Noblesville on Tuesday, January 14th.

Despite some injuries and illnesses and placing 5th or 6th in every event, the Trailblazers had some very fast swims, including a new school record. Charlotte Kumler, Kylar Kavanaugh, Regan Hooker, and Audrey Priest swam a 200 free relay in 2:02.40, breaking the previous record by over a second.

The Trailblazers also posted a lot of best times over the course of the meet.

In the medley relay, Zoe Napier took it out with about half a second faster than her best 50 back split (37.41), Audrey Priest shaved off some time in her fly split (33.19), and Madison Clary brought it home with her best 50 free split (30.68)!

Stasia Reinholt shaved a little time off her 200 IM down to a 3:05.07. Jaclyn Copeland dropped about three seconds in her 100 free to break the 1:20 barrier and get down to 1:18.47.

Audrey Priest took some time off the top of her 100 fly down to 1:15.48. With a tough double, she turned around from the fly to drop about 10 seconds in her 500 free. She now goes 6:39.76.

In the 200 free relay, Kate Lautenbach had her best 50 free relay split (36.97). She also dropped three seconds in her 100 back (1:36.39). Kate wrapped up the meet with a best 100 free relay split in the 400 free relay (1:23.59).

Kylar Kavanaugh dropped a second her 100 back as well (1:16.25).

Many Blazers also swam events that were new to them! Madison Clary (2:43.91) and Kate Lautenbach (3:02.07) swam their first official 200 frees! Jaclyn Copeland swam her first individual 50 free and went 34.57. Kylar Kavanaugh survived her first 100 fly (1:18.37) while Madison Clary swam her first 100 breaststroke! She went 1:35.12.

We also had a lot of season-bests at the meet! Particularly strong swims were Caitlin Clark’s 200 IM, which was her third-best ever and Kylar Kavanaugh’s free relay splits– she was .11 away from her best 100 free relay split and .04 away from her best 50 free relay split.

The Trailblazers compete next at the Schools with No Pools Invitational hosted by Brebeuf at the IUPUI Natatorium.
