In their season debut as a complete team, the University High School girls cross country team had a strong showing and took first place in today’s Sheridan Invitational. The team was led by a close pack of three runners — seniors Ella Eskenazi and Jada Swearingen, and junior Charlotte Kumler — who took third, fourth, and fifth place in the race. Freshman Chloe Kaplan and sophomore Zoe Napier ran their first races of the season and had excellent times, finishing 9th and 15th overall. Senior Isabella Garino-Heisey dropped an impressive two minutes off last week’s time in today’s race. And freshman Sam Cooper rallied after a rocky start to finish the race and her first official high school 5K. Big congratulations to these Trailblazers!
