After most swimmers spent a week out of the water traveling for their J-Term classes, the Trailblazers returned to competition at the Schools with No Pools Invitational hosted by Brebeuf at the IUPUI Natatorium.
With eighteen teams at this meet, the competition was divided into two pools. The boys finished in 8th place with 136 points. The top 16 finishers in each event scored points.
The Trailblazers earned points in the following individual events:
In the 200 free, Andrew Laramore finished 14th with a best time (2:17.69).
Two Trailblazers earned points in the 100 fly– Cordell Wilson finished 6th with a season-best time (59.37) and Keegan Priest won the event with a season-best (54.29).
In the 500 free, Andrew Laramore went a season-best time to finish 12th (6:24.14) while Foster Wilson finished 15th (6:50.56).
The 100 backstroke was another event with two scoring swims: Gordon Bradley finished 15th (1:14.10) and Keegan Priest won another event with another season-best time (56.51).
The final individual scoring swim from the night came from Austin Clark in the 100 breaststroke, who came in 16th (1:16.43).
In addition to those individual scoring swims, all of the relays scored points. The medley relay team of Keegan Priest, Austin Clark, Cordell Wilson, and Hayden Suarez-Davis finished 4th with a season-best time of 1:51.98. The 200 free relay team of Keegan Priest, Andrew Laramore, Hayden Suarez-Davis, and Austin Clark finished 6th (1:42.74). Finishing off the meet, the 400 free relay team of Andrew Laramore, Cordell Wilson, Foster Wilson, and Gordon Bradley finished 10th with a time of 4:12.12.
In addition to those indicated above, we also had more best times at this meet.
Andrew Laramore had his best ever 50 free relay split (26.54) in the 200 free relay.
Charlie Dahle had a CRAZY 50 free where he went 28.36. He also dropped 2 seconds in the 100 free to go 1:07.39 and had a best 50 free relay split (30.19).
Gordon Bradley had his best 50 free flat start in the 200 free relay (30.45). Colin Freeman also had his best split in the event (31.69).
Finally, we ended with some other best 100 free relay splits: Cordell Wilson broke 1:00 on the relay for the first time (59.45), Foster Wilson dropped about 2 seconds (1:05.44), while Gordon Bradley also fought to take off about a second (1:07.21).
Only one swimmer swam an event for the first time at this meet, and that was Cordell Wilson in the 200 IM. Unfortunately, he was DQed in the event, though his time was 2:25.24.
This was the final regular-season meet for the Trailblazers. They will compete next at sectionals on February 20th.
