Meet Recap

The Sheridan Invitational was the second meet of the season for the University High School Trailblazers. The team took 4th place of six scoring teams. Sophomore Noah Laramore had a standout performance, taking 3rd place in the boys race with a time of 19:01. Freshman Keegan Priest also stood out, finishing 2nd for the Trailblazers (20th overall) with a time of 20:39. Other medalists for the Trailblazers were sophomores Jacob Sager (24th place with a time of 21:08) and Cordell Wilson (25th place with a time of 21:11). Next up for the Trailblazers is the Hamilton County Meet on Tuesday in Noblesville.

Meet Recap

The Sheridan Invitational was the second meet of the season for the University High School Trailblazers. The girls team ran well, taking 3rd place of the four scoring teams. Freshman Charlotte Kumler took 3rd place in the girls race with a time of 21:32. Sophomore Jada Swearingen took 5th place with a time of 23:08. Other medalists were freshman Rachel Zeh (19th place) with a time of 27:24, sophomore Robin Karwath (22nd place) with a time of 27:34, and junior Haley Tomlinson (25th place) with a time of 27:39. The Trailblazers will compete in the Hamilton County Meet on Tuesday in Noblesville.

Game Recap

For their first home game of the season, the Trailblazers faced conference opponent Muncie Burris. On this beautiful Saturday morning, the Trailblazers came out strong. In the first 10 minutes of play, junior Lily Snyder played a spectacular through ball to sophomore Tessa Hudson to put the Trailblazers on the score board. The hot streak continued throughout the half and the Trailblazers went up 5-0. In the second half, the Trailblazers kept their shutout and scored one more goal. This was a huge team win for the Trailblazers. Sophomore Tessa Hudson scored two goals, juniors Lily Snyder scored one goal and has two assists and Halle Von Ah had three goals and two assists. Sophomore Lilly Fair kept the shutout in goal and had seven saves. Juniors Hallie Harrison, Brooke Andrus, and Meredith Malott and senior Shelby Wood played strong out of the back. The Trailblazers play a varsity and JV match at home on Monday against Hamilton Heights.

The Trailblazers traveled to Scecina Memorial Thursday afternoon to face the Crusaders in an exciting match. The Trailblazers dominated the match early, but had a hard time in the first half scoring on a strong goalkeeper for the Crusaders. Ten minutes into the match, junior Halle Von Ah found sophomore Tessa Hudson to put the Trailblazers on the board. Even with great combination plays and effort, the Trailblazers had a hard time finding the back of the net. Going into the second half, the Trailblazers were eager to score and keep the shut out. Von Ah added a PK and a goal along with two assists for the Trailblazers, junior Lucy Snyder added two more goals, and Hudson finished the game with a second goal and an assist. Sophomore Lilly Fair had a clean sheet on the night. University won 6-0. The Trailblazers face conference opponent Muncie Burris at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The JV team also played a thrilling half Thursday evening against Scecina. The Crusaders got on the scoreboard early making it 2-0. The Trailblazers worked hard, found each other’s feet, and were able to win 4-2. Sophomore Lilly Fair scored two goals and Annie Klemsz added a goal. Freshman Brooke Toombs scored a goal for the Trailblazers, too. Senior Shelby Wood played goalie for the Trailblazers. GO BLAZERS!!

Michael Bounsall got his first goal of the season as the Trailblazers ground out a victory over a committed Bethesda team. Ryan Williams scored the game winner off a feed from Sam Gailey. Coghlin Kumler scored the Trailblazer’s second goal off a coolly taken penalty kick, his second of the young season.

The Trailblazers competed well on an unfamiliar course, earning 11th place of 15 teams. The UHS boys cross country team opened their season on Saturday at the Southwestern Small School Invitational at Blue River Memorial Park (Shelbyville, IN). The Trailblazers competed well on an unfamiliar course, earning 10th place of 17 teams. Sophomore Noah Laramore finished in 30th place with a time of 19:27 and was the sole ribbon winner for the Trailblazers.
