On Friday, January 17, one Trailblazer athlete signed a National Letter of Intent to play NCAA Division III men’s basketball at Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH.
Senior Joe Martin, a boys basketball player at University High School and member of the Class of 2020, will play the sport at Wittenberg next year. Wittenberg has the distinction of having the winningest NCAA Division III men’s basketball program in the country.
Martin signed the letter in front of his parents, coaches, teammates, and peers at University High School in a special ceremony after school.
“When he started here at University High School in his junior year, Joe had two major goals,” said head boys basketball coach Brandon Lafferman during the signing ceremony. “One was to be a productive member of the program and help us win games. And the other was to achieve playing at the next level in college. […] Joe is proof that if you work hard all the time, you can achieve your goals. I’m really excited to watch Joe finish out his career here at University and even more excited to watch him during his career at Wittenberg.”
