Beginning in the 2019-20 school year, University High School is thrilled to welcome Riverview Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine as the new sports medicine provider for the Trailblazers.
Riverview will replace University’s longtime sports medicine provider, St. Vincent Health, due to cuts in St. Vincent’s program. While St. Vincent will still provide strength and conditioning services to Trailblazer athletes this summer, all other sports medicine offerings (including scheduling IHSAA-required PPEs) will be filled by Riverview. The change will take effect on June 15, 2019.
Saying Goodbye to Kris Schepers, Athletic Trainer
Due in part to this change, Kris Schepers, University High School’s athletic trainer (and an alumni parent) through the St. Vincent network, has announced that she’ll be leaving the school at the end of this year. She has accepted an athletic training position in Westfield.
At assembly on Thursday, May 23, University High School had the opportunity to say thank you and goodbye to Schepers.
Senior Lillian Klemsz said the following: “If you’ve ever been to the training room, you know that it can get a little rowdy back there. But you also know how quickly Kris takes control and makes sure everyone is getting the care that they need. Although students go see Kris for injuries from time to time, most of the time students just want to go to the training room to hang out with her. She offers us advice and support, in and out of sports.”
Please join us in welcoming Riverview and thanking Kris Schepers for her many years as a Trailblazer.
