Three years ago, University High School student Randy Morton told his soccer coach, Wes Priest, that he was going to play soccer in college. On Monday, March 19, surrounded by his family and school community, Morton signed a National Letter of Intent to do just that.
Morton (’18) will attend and play soccer for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Saint Mary of the Woods, IN.
Morton was joined at the signing by his parents, by Saint Mary-of-the-Woods head coach Abe Tizaf, and by University High School’s head boys soccer coach Wes Priest.
“Randy is someone who makes us better people, and he makes our school a better place to be,” said Priest. “If you’ve ever been on a soccer team, a basketball team, or a track team with Randy, you know that he is the best person to have on your team. He makes every session more fun, he lifts people up, and it’s been an honor to coach him the last three years.”
“I came to University High School with little-to-no experience,” added Morton. “I played a little for Lawrence Soccer Club, but I really didn’t have means to play for FC Pride or Indy Premier. I really have to thank Wes Priest and Chris Morrison because they taught me things I didn’t know that I’m now going to bring on to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.”
