On Monday, Nov. 13, two Trailblazers signed National Letters of Intent to play baseball for their chosen colleges.
Senior Cade Carlson will attend and play baseball for Northwood University in Midland, MI. And senior Garrett Hill will attend and play baseball for Indiana University Purdue University — Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, IN.
The two seniors signed their National Letters of Intent in front of their peers as part of University High School’s daily community meeting.
“It’s actually very exciting to know that your (baseball) career is going to continue into college, and it’s something that not everyone gets to do,” said Hill. “I’m excited to get the chance to go through this together.”
Carlson and Hill were joined by their parents and by coaches Chris Estep and Reid Andrews. Estep, University’s head baseball coach, expects big things from the two players in college.
“I think both Cade and Garrett will make an impact as freshmen,” said Estep. “They both got a lot of attention [from colleges], and I think they both found schools where they won’t have to go into a program and sit for two years. They’ll most likely be in the starting rotation [right away], so they’ll go in and continue to develop.”
