In an unscored meet on Tuesday, December 10th, the AquaBlazers set many personal and 2 new team records.
To kick off the meet, the team of Charles Earle, Cole Reinholt, Brody Davison, and Cordell Wilson swam their best medley relay of the season (1:58.93). Wilson continued the boys’ good start in the next event when he shaved 8 seconds off of his previous best time in the 200 freestyle to go 2:25.20. Teammates Max Ammerman and Ian Weiker also swam best times in the event, finishing in 2:42.68 (an 8-second improvement) and 3:05.34 (a 2-second improvement) respectively.
Davison and Earle took the stage again in the next event: 200 IM. Both emerged with best times: Davison dropped a second for 2:13.16 while Earle went 8 seconds faster than his previous best for 2:40.83. Reinholt and Christian Moore both went personal bests in the 50 freestyle (27.81 and 43.67 respectively) shortly after.
Davison got back in the pool to go his season best in the 500 freestyle (5:15.51). Earle and Wilson both dropped 4 seconds in the 100 backstroke (1:12.71 and 1:20.88). Reinholt also shaved off a tiny bit of his best in the 100 breaststroke to set a new team record of 1:12.06.
The evening concluded with a team record-setting swim from Davison, Reinholt, Earle, and Wilson in the 400 freestyle relay. With fantastic new best splits from Earle and Wilson, the squad was able to finish in 4:07.53.
The AquaBlazers’ next competition will be at the IUPUI Natatorium on January 24th when they attend the Schools With No Pools Invitational.
