Although the University Girls Swim Team ultimately fell to Pioneer, Clinton Central, Cascade, and North Putnam, they had some great swims on Saturday, December 10th. Throughout the meet, many of the girls dropped time and some even set new team records!
The first record-breaking swim of the day was from Regan Hooker, who dropped 7 seconds in the 100 butterfly for a new record of 1:15.99 and a second place finish. Hooker would later break the school record in the 500 freestyle, an event she would win in 6:17.52. In the final event of the meet, Hooker teamed up with Caitlin Clark, Macy Paton, and Ella Eskenazi to break the 400 freestyle relay record with a time of 5:00.87.
Paton had her own best time earlier in the meet when she dropped an impressive 13 seconds in her 200 freestyle, down to a 2:47.78 and in the 100 freestyle when she went a 1:13.66. Eskenazi dropped time in her 500 freestyle, down to a 7:04.70. Christine Chen also went a best time in the 50 freestyle; she is now down to a 46.57!
The AquaBlazers’ next competition is the Zionsville Invitational on Saturday, December 17th. The meet will kick off around 11:00am at Zionsville High School.
