In an incredibly close meet, University’s Girls Swimming won their meet against Muncie Burris on Saturday, their first victory of the season.
The meet kicked off with a victory from Macy Paton, Caitlin Clark, Regan Hooker, and Ella Eskenazi in the 200 Medley Relay when the girls broke their own school record with a time of 2:29.07. This race was incredibly close; they only beat their competition by .52 seconds.
Eskenazi and Clark continued the girls’ dominance, coming in first and second in the 200 freestyle with times of 2:43.97 and 3:09.48 respectively. Isabela Wise took home the girls’ second individual victory, dropping two and a half seconds from her best time to go 33.68. Paton touched second in the event with a time of 35.19.
Wise also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:13.89. Teammate Christine Chen dropped 13 seconds in the same event for a fourth-place time of 1:48.43. Eskenazi continued the girls’ winning streak in the 500 free when she broke her own team record for a winning time of 7:17.00. She joined the 200 freestyle relay team of Chen, Wise, and Hooker immediately afterward to win the event in 2:27.12. The girls’ final victory of the day came when Hooker won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 2:25.20.
The University Girls Swim Team’s next competition is at 5:30pm on Wednesday, December 8th against Covenant Christian, Broad Ripple, Arsenal Tech, and Scecina at Arsenal Tech.
